Do I have to be home during the cleaning?

Nope. It’s not necessary for you to be home while our cleaning team gets your abode in tip-top shape. You can be if you want, though. It’s up to you. If you do decide to have us clean your home while you’re at work or away for the weekend, you can:

  • Leave us a key in a safe spot, or
  • Give us a key. We’ll store it at our facility and issue it to the leader of your cleaning team on the day we come to your home. Afterward, your key will be returned to the manager and stored securely until the next time. We’re insured for key replacement and re-keying locks in the unlikely event of a lost key.

Our only suggestion is that you start with the option that feels most comfortable to you. We trust that the longer you work with us, the more you’ll come to truly feel just how reliable we are.

How much do I have to clean myself before a maid comes?

You get to decide how much cleaning you want to do before we come. Some of our clients like to do a light pick up to get laundry and toys off the floor before the cleaning team arrives. This can impact the cost because the less tidying there is to do, the quicker we can get to the scrubbing, vacuuming, and disinfecting. Remember though, we are not your mother-in-law, so you don’t need to stress yourself out trying to clean up before we arrive. We’re professional housekeepers, and we’re happy to toss toys into a bin or straighten papers as we go along.

Should I tip the housecleaners?

There’s no need to tip your cleaning team at The Maids of San Diego. Our housecleaners receive great wages and benefits, and will provide you with an impeccably clean home without expectation of a tip.

What types of cleaning supplies should I provide?

There’s no need for you to provide any cleaning supplies at all.  Our team of professional housekeepers will come armed with everything necessary to get your home sparkling clean. They’ll bring high-quality, eco-friendly cleaning products and some other high-tech supplies and gadgets, including backpack vacuums equipped with HEPA filtration, which clears up to 99% of bacteria and allergens.
